In the town of Fortune’s Well a dangerous storm is brewing, and two unsuspecting teenagers are standing right at the heart of it.
For JJ Carson, life has not been easy. His father is dead, his mother arrested for the murder, and he has been forced to live on the farm with his alcoholic uncle, Henry. Just when things could not get any worse, JJ discovers a dark, swirling mist has made itself at home inside him and it is slowly changing him from the inside out.
Evil doesn’t stay buried forever…
A few weeks have passed since that nightmarish summer, and for JJ Carson the future is uncertain.
As for Darcie Duffield, life is back to normal, as she returns to school and desperately tries to forget the boy she met at the river, and the mysterious power he possessed.
But when her friend goes missing, and a ghost from the past returns, Darcie realises she’s barely scratched the surface of Fortune’s Well’s hidden secrets, and the sinister truth that lies beneath.

It has been a crazy year and so many exciting things have been happening for me.
Some I'm not ready to share just yet but I am very excited about them.
First, I'm so proud of myself for losing a tonne of weight. I'm feeling so much healthier these days which is fantastic. No crazy diets or endless hours in the gym - instead I've simply been more conscious of portion sizes and the amount of calories I take in daily. And I walk EVERYWHERE. My poor car doesn't get much use.
Part of being healthier is having a clearer mind, and for a creative that is paramount.
I feel more motivated and focussed. I have the energy to believe in things and achieve them too. I never thought I could be like this without taking up a sport or becoming a gym rat but it really is as simple as eat sensibly, walk, drink water, sleep, repeat.
What's something you've achieved this year that you're proud of yourself for?
That being said I have some great things in the pipeline for Chasing Driftwood with Chantelle Atkins and I cannot wait to share them with you soon!
One I can tell you about it book two in the Fortune's Well series is out within a few hours of this email hitting your inbox. In fact, as you're reading this it is most likely already out there and available (see above for details).
I am so incredibly excited!
The book is currently only available in ebook, however, paperback and hardback will follow in a few days time.
As for this summer, I've done so many great things. One treasured memory was a fantastic catch up with fellow writer Paula Harmon at my favourite local eatery, Black Cactus, and I felt so inspired by her. Paula is one of the most talented writers I know, in fact, she is one of the most amazing people I know in general!
For any writers out there feeling like you've hit that slump, spend some time chatting with another writer. There's something magical about talking about writing, it's like a fuel, it gets the sparks going and I promise you it will get you excited again and passionate about what you do. Especially if you can find one as lovely as Paula to talk to.
We writers can be quite introverted by nature, so it is important we make the effort to be more social. After all, experience leads to great memories to draw from when writing. And authentic writing is great writing.
Another great experience was my first trip to the amazing Brownsea Island for my friend's birthday last weekend. What a magical place. Wild peacocks, blue skies, true, sand, sea... I felt like I was miles away from home and not just half an hour! If you haven't been I highly recommend it. Where's somewhere exciting you've been this year, or somewhere you hope to go? Any way, that's all from me now... Until next time folks!
